Clinical and Research Interests
Dr. Patel's clinical and research interests are focused on returning athletes to sport as well as joint preservation. Specific areas and procedures include: hip arthroscopy, hip labral repair and reconstruction, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, articular cartilage repair and transplantation, meniscus repair & transplantation, Achilles tendon repair, arthroscopic shoulder stabilization/labrum and rotator cuff repair, shoulder replacements, and elbow ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction (Tommy John) and repair.
Dr. Patel has numerous published peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and textbook chapters. He serves on the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) Technology Committee. His research has been nationally recognized throughout his career. As a medical student, he was given the Dean’s Award for Research Excellence and Joseph B. Kass Award for Research. As a surgical resident, Dr. Patel was awarded the Washington University Research Award. He has also been awarded various research grants to support his advancement of orthopedic science.
